What People Say

Since the tango embrace is very close with your partner, complete trust in your partner is essential. The follower must be very concentrated because the movements have many different possibilities and nuances. Like with all other dances, in tango it's first important to master the technique, and then the feeling for the music starts to improve gradually. While salsa and bachata are pure joy and energy, tango music seems to have some deeper story hidden within. When you already have an irresistible need for music and movement, I don't recommend thinking too long. Tango is the next level, for which you need to have a bit of patience, because the world of tango reveals itself slowly

What first drew me to tango was the elegance of the movements. I was looking to expand my dancing skills from the explosive and fun Salsa to something that was a challenging, technical and nuanced dance. I like to feel that I'm learning and growing, and Tango gives me exactly that. Dancing Tango makes me feel incredibly focused. When I dance, all of my thoughts and anxieties disappear. I am in the moment and fully present, which doesn't happen often in daily life. Through Tango, I've found a very warm and caring community of people, united by a shared interest. Personal connection is an important part of being human, so expanding the circle is always a positive. I've found a space that challenges me every time, making me improve and develop.

At zero distance between, you can feel your partner’s breath, heartbeat, and balance as if they were your own. This closeness brings a sense of trust and, at the same time, a deep sense of responsibility. Amid this tension, graceful music flows. With each step, you draw energy from the floor, absorb it throughout your body, and convey it to your partner. It’s incredibly challenging, but when this synergy functions as a single living entity, the sensation is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. This unique feeling becomes the universal language that captivates every tango dancer. Having experienced nearly all the dances offered by the studio, I find tango to be by far the most challenging. It’s not something you can master in a few years. However, this makes even small progress incredibly rewarding. As a lifelong pursuit, its difficulty feels just right. Over time, tango gradually integrates into your daily life—affecting your attire, grooming, posture, walk, and embrace—likely for the better. Viva la vida de tango!

I was surprised how much tango is emotionally deeper than other Latin dances. The best thing about tango is dance connection and musicality: I can only compare it to Bachata, West Coast Swing, and Zouk. In Tango, the connection with your partner and unconditional trust, along with a very clear 'frame' between leader and follower, are the foundation of everything - in this aspect, there's a certain similarity with Zouk. Regarding musicality, tango offers similar opportunities as other dances to play with tempo and melody. For beginners, I recommend consistency and persistence, and definitely practicing with different partners. For Tango, you simply need to take somewhat more time than with other dances
